Yeah yeah - I’m running another half
Marathon. I know, I know. Nobody cares about me running my 12th half marathon at an incredibly mediocre pace. However, I’m sure you *do* care about saving dogs from the meat trade, the puppy mills and the shelters in South Korea - and placing them on US homes. So please donate, and help me reach my goal- or get somewhere close to it.
I’m running this race in honor of my dog Presley—the coolest dog to ever exist. I adopted him in 2016, unknowingly taking home a senior on death row. He was skin and bones, coughing, timid, and had barely any hair. Within weeks, he transformed into a joyful, bat-gargoyle-Maltese-looking fluffball who stopped traffic on the street and curled up next to me when I cried.
In 2021, during a routine check-up, he was diagnosed with cancer. I told the vet he was nine—she said, “This is not a nine-year-old dog.” He was closer to 17. I asked how long he had, and she said maybe a month. My 40th birthday was around the corner, and I begged him to make it. He did—we shared a steak on the beach, he played like a puppy, and a few days later, he passed.
I’m so glad I didn’t know how old he really was when I adopted him—because I might have missed out on the best decision I ever made. This one’s for you, Presley.
