NYCRUNS Brooklyn Experience Half Marathon 2026

Hello! My name is Julio, and I currently live in New Jersey, just outside of New York City. I coach and mentor youth lacrosse in the greater Hoboken/Jersey City area.

I grew up as one of three children raised by an amazing single mother. Because she worked long hours to support our family, she kept us busy by signing us up for every after-school program or extracurricular activity we showed interest in. I played just about every sport — football, basketball, baseball, lacrosse, ultimate frisbee, golf, soccer, disc golf, and more.

Beyond sports, my siblings and I also participated in musical theater and learned to play instruments. Participating in all these activities wasn’t cheap — we needed cleats, shoes, training gear, apparel, and more. More often than not, we relied on financial aid or scholarships, so I understand firsthand the importance of nonprofits like ISM.

Running this half marathon and having the opportunity to raise money to help kids grow through sports and the arts truly hits home for me.
