The 52nd Street Project is an incredible community institution working with the young people of Hells Kitchen. If you haven't seen a show there, get to one as soon as you can!  

The Project offers a myriad of opportunities to the young people of Hells Kitchen: Mentoring, Arts Exposure, Writing, Performance, Retreats, Academics, and so much more. At its heart, The Project offers a space where community can gather and grow. We learn together, challenging each other to bring our best selves each and everyday. I think of the Project as ‘the great equalizer’ - the room can be filled with celebrities, young people. recent college grads, seasoned technicians, and yet, there is no hierarchy. Everyone is there for the same reason: to uplift the voices of young people, to create, and to have a boat load of fun!

As an Education Assistant at the Project I take on the brunt of Ping Pong, Uno, Blockus, Bananagrams, and Foosball playing. How laborious! (I jest!) It is such a joy to spend afternoons with project members gabbing, gossiping, conversing, and most importantly, doing a power-hour of homework. Since starting as an Intern in January 2025, I have grown as an educator, arts technician, and human being. Being surrounded by walls seeping whimsy at all times, it’s hard not to become inspired to grow!
