I'm fundraising in honor of my dad, best friend, and confidant, Mike Suesserman.
Since we lost my dad to non-small cell lung cancer in 2020, running has become a way for me to feel connected to him. Listening to the Stones has gotten me through tough hills by transporting me to car rides with my dad, reminding me of his love for music and the ways he always motivated me to be my best self. Running has also become a special way for me and Jake to grow closer - training and running together has connected us even more, turning our grief into shared strength.
This year, we’re running the race together on the 6th anniversary of our dad's passing. We are lucky to have our family and friends joining us or cheering us on from the sidelines, to honor my dad and support people facing lung cancer. Our efforts will go towards supporting critical research that seeks to further the discovery and development of lung cancer treatments for patients like my dad. By fundraising, I hope to help others gain access to care and continue my dad’s legacy of living everyday to the fullest.
