NYCRUNS Brooklyn Experience Half Marathon 2026
I’m supporting One Love Community Fridge.
I’m running the Brooklyn Experience Half Marathon not just for a finish time, but for something far bigger than myself. 💛
Through volunteering with One Love Community, I’ve had the honor of getting to know some of the women behind this work — especially founder Asmeret Berhe-Lumax, whose compassion, leadership, and tireless commitment to others is truly inspiring. Spending time alongside this community changed the way I see what it means to show up for one another. What stood out to me wasn’t just the resources being provided, but the genuine care, dignity, and human connection at the center of everything they do. No one is treated like a statistic — everyone is treated like family.
As someone who has benefited from support, encouragement, and kindness from others in my own life, this mission resonates with me on a very real level. Running 13.1 miles is hard, but it’s also a privilege. Many people in our city are navigating challenges that require far more endurance than any race — food insecurity, isolation, instability, and simply being unseen. One Love Community meets people in those moments with compassion, consistency, and love. 🏃♀️
Every mile I run is dedicated to the individuals and families this organization serves, and to the belief that small acts of care can ripple outward in powerful ways.
If you're able, I hope you'll consider supporting this cause. Your donation –– no matter the size –– helps OLCF continue showing up with food, resources, kindness, and unwavering love to neighbors who need it most. And if you can't give financially, sharing this page means just as much.

Thank you for being part of this journey with me. Together, we can make every mile count. 💫 –– Lutti
"Food is the foundation of our health. Food is information. Food is medicine. Food is power. Food has the power to bridge humans and cultures. It is something we all as humans need to survive. Food access exists at the intersection of all broader social issues, including social, economic and racial inequalities. Healthy food is a right, and should not be considered a privilege." –– Asmeret Berhe-Lumax
