NYCRUNS Brooklyn Experience Half Marathon 2026

Hi,

My name is Rida, born and raised in Morocco, North Africa, and now live in NYC. I am running a half marathon for the first time and for a cause I care about.

This year, I’m running the Brooklyn Experience Half Marathon to raise funds for an organization I care about deeply: the Avenorpedo Scholarship Fund (ASF). I’ve committed to raising $1,000, and I’m reaching out to ask for your support.

Only 5.9% of kids in rural Ghana go on to any post‑secondary education. The barrier isn’t talent, 77% of students are enrolled in high school and 94% of young adults are literate, and it isn’t access, Ghana has more than 100 colleges nationwide, the barrier is opportunity.,

In the rural community of Avenorpedo, many bright, hardworking students delay college for years while saving enough money for a single semester. ASF exists to change that. Their mission is simple and powerful: ensure that talented students can pursue higher education immediately, regardless of financial circumstances, and inspire the next generation to excel academically.

I believe in ASF’s approach. They focus on building long‑term capacity through education, partner closely with local leaders, and ensure every student is thoroughly vetted. Tuition support goes directly to schools whenever possible. If I reach my goal, it will be enough to send one student to college for an entire year.
