The Academic City University Foundation (ACUF) is a US-based nonprofit dedicated to unlocking opportunity for Africa’s brightest young minds through access to world-class STEAM education. ACUF builds on the proven track record of Academic City University in Accra, Ghana, one of Africa’s leading private STEM and entrepreneurship universities.
Since 2018, Academic City University has awarded more than 60 full-ride scholarships valued at nearly $3 million, supporting students from over 20 African countries. Yet across the continent, millions of talented students are still locked out of high-quality education due to cost. Public universities are overcrowded and underfunded, while many private institutions prioritize scale over rigor. ACUF is on a mission to change that. Through scholarships, strategic partnerships, and innovation-driven programs, we help students gain the skills, mentorship, and exposure needed to solve real problems in engineering, technology, health, climate, and entrepreneurship.
By running the Brooklyn Half Marathon, we are raising funds to support scholarships and programs that allow exceptional African students to access rigorous training, cutting-edge facilities, and global networks, without financial barriers. Every mile run and every dollar raised helps build ethical, entrepreneurial leaders who will shape Africa’s future and contribute to the global innovation economy
