I’m supporting Transportation Alternatives TEST TEST.
everyone who knows me knows that I am passionate about urban mobility. Specifically, I believe that designing our cities to support active transportation is critical for achieving numerous important goals, such as addressing climate change, ending in-equal transit access, and achieving Vision Zero (zero traffic fatalities).
This is why I am running in support of Transportation Alternatives, a New York focused non-profit organization with a strong track record of shifting NYC's transportation priorities to encourage and increase non-polluting, quiet, city-friendly travel. If you aren't familiar with Transportation Alternatives, it is likely you have still directly benefited from their efforts which include the successful advocacy for countless mobility projects including making Prospect and Central Park car-free, the Brooklyn Bridge protected bikeway, and the 14th Street Busway. TA's initiatives have not only positively shifted mobility in all five boroughs, but continue to serve as the inspiration for similar projects elsewhere. Early in the COVID pandemic, for example, Transportation Alternatives developed bicycle match which enabled people to donate un-used bicycles to first responders around the city. With guidance from TA, this program was copies across the globe.
This ability to make meaningful change locally while shifting the paradigm globally is why I hope you will join me in supporting Transportation Alternatives.
