I’m supporting NYU Langone Health.
As Kris would say, "cancer sucks".
Pictured left is me: Alice, 33 years, alive.
Pictured right is my dear friend: Kris, 37 years, deceased.
On April 2nd, 2020, after beating cancer three times in his life, the fourth diagnosis did him in. Over our 10+ year friendship, I watched him go in and out of hospitals, sat with him through operations, attended chemo appointments, and eventually cared for him on his death bed.
This is a brutal disease that many people succumb to each year - 1 in 6 deaths attributed to cancer, to be precise. I am running this for everyone who has had cancer affect their lives - as a witness, survivor, or victim.
I will be running with NYU to raise critical funds to reduce cancer disparities across Brooklyn through Perlmutter Cancer Center’s Stamp Out Cancer Brooklyn initiative. Our group will be running in support of innovations in prevention, early detection, patient navigation, and more.
So while Kris is shredding in heaven (bc that's so metal), I'll be shredding the road. I encourage you all to support me in my effort and donate to this cause.
Cheers,
Alice
