NYCRUNS Brooklyn Marathon & Half Marathon

Friends of + POOL advocates for clean and safe access to urban rivers, educates the public on issues affecting water quality, and promotes water stewardship. The organization is the driver of + POOL, a water-filtering, floating swimming pool, currently being designed for installation in the East River. + POOL represents how design can be used to solve environmental problems, which is embedded in all of the organization's work and reflected in the organization's community-focused free public and educational programs. Current programs include the Summer Bluefish, a free learn-to-swim program for low-income youth, in-school education that uses + POOL to teach STEM, the collection and dissemination of water quality data on NYC’s rivers, art programs that engage the public in issues impacting our water quality, and events that engage community members in water stewardship.
