THE RACE

Help us ring in spring with Broadway Cares! The NYCRUNS Spring Fling 5K & 10K brings us back to Governors Island just in time to experience stellar views before the warmer weather crowds roll in.

Entry to the NYCRUNS Spring Fling 5K & 10K includes a ferry ride, your race-entry, a tech shirt, and post-race eats. We can't imagine a better way to chase your winter blues away than a run on Governors Island and a little Broadway, baby.

BENEFITING BROADWAY CARES

When you register for your race, you'll also have the opportunity to make a donation to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS is the philanthropic heart of Broadway, helping ensure those affected by HIV/AIDS, COVID-19 and other life-threatening illnesses nationwide receive medication, healthy meals, counseling and emergency assistance. Broadway Cares is the major financial supporter of the social service programs at the Entertainment Community Fund (formerly The Actors Fund), helping everyone in entertainment and the performing arts. Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS also awards annual grants to more than 450 AIDS and family service organizations in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and Washington, D.C. broadwaycares.org

HANDCYCLE/WHEELCHAIR ATHLETES

Due to the high number of turns in this course, we do not advise handcycle or wheelchair athletes participate in this event. We’d suggest registering for the NYCRUNS Brooklyn Half Marathon or any of our 5K races in Prospect Park or Central Park.

AMENITIES

Bag Check - If you plan on checking a bag, you must use the single clear bag provided by NYCRUNS. You may not put another full bag/backpack/briefcase inside the clear bag. All items must fit inside the clear bag. NYCRUNS reserves the right to search your bag at any time.

Toilets - Portable restrooms will be available for use throughout the event.

Refreshments - Water will be available on the course for both races and electrolyte fluid will be available on the course for the 10K.  Further hydration, bagels, a schmear, and fresh fruit will be available to replenish you at the finish line.

SWAG - The giveaway for this race will be a tech shirt. Shirts may be picked up on race day only. In order to cut down on waste, we try not to overorder and sizes are not guaranteed. If you have your heart set on a size, we recommend picking up your shirt before the race.

Photos - Free finish line photos will be available within a week of the race. You will receive an email from MarathonFoto several days after the race to claim your photos.

BIB DISTRIBUTION

If you register thirty days or more before the event using a domestic address, your bib will be mailed to you for no additional cost. Please make sure the shipping address provided at the time of registration will be valid in the month preceding the race.

If you register after that, use an international address, or your bib doesn't arrive in the mail, you must pick up your bib on race day an hour before your start time.

If you need to switch distances, please do so on your NYCRUNS dashboard. You may only switch distances if the distance you are looking to switch to is not sold out. You also must pick up the appropriate distance bib on race day from the Bib Pick-Up tent.

Runners who participate with a bib for an improper distance (i.e. you run the 5K with a 10K bib or vice versa) will not be scored, eligible for awards, or appear in race results.

DIRECTIONS

The Governors Island Ferry from Manhattan is how you get to the race, and your ferry ride is included in your race registration. The 4, 5 to Bowling Green; the R to Whitehall St.; the J to Broad St.; or the 1 to South Ferry are the closest subway stops to the Ferry Terminal at Battery Maritime Building at 10 South Street.

Please arrive at the Ferry Terminal between 6:30-7:00 AM if you are running the 5K and between 7:30-8 AM if you are running the 10K.

Taking the Governors Island ferry from Manhattan is your best option for arriving on time. Other ferry services may be available but are not recommended.

Please check MTA Trip Planner for up-to-date and detailed mass transit directions and Google Maps for driving directions. Driving is not recommended due to the lack of parking near the ferry.
