I’m supporting Sunrise Association.

My youngest son, Ezrael Osorio, faced his first great trial in life, Ewing sarcoma. Like many young children, he didn’t fully notice the changes happening around him, but as his parent, I saw them clearly. He missed out on the simple rewards of childhood playing, attending events, and reaching milestones because we had to be cautious for his health and well-being.

Now that he has overcome this trial, our family moves forward with deep gratitude. The Brooklyn Half Marathon represents a different kind of trial for me; one of endurance, discipline, and perseverance. While it cannot compare to what these children endure, it reminds me of the strength it takes to keep moving forward when the path is difficult.

I know that not every family is as fortunate, and many are still facing their own trials. I dedicate this run, and many more to come, to the families, friends, and especially the children who are still fighting. In the end, we will smile, hold onto hope, and continue the walk of life together.
